Diane Ladd, Celebrated For Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Has Died at 89 Years Old.
This Academy Award-nominated actress Diane Ladd left us 89 years old.
This actress, whose credits spanned National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, died at her home in Ojai, California. The news was announced through a message by her child, Academy Award-winning star her daughter Laura Dern.
Dern, who appeared with Diane Ladd in a number of films including Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose, called her “my wonderful hero plus my precious gift of a mother”, stating that she was present as she died.
“She was the most wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, performer, creative along with compassionate soul that seemed almost dreamlike,” she stated. “We were lucky to have her. She is now with the angels.”
Initial Roles and Major Success
Her initial acting years featured small roles on television series such as The Fugitive whereas the 1970s had her appearing next to Jack Nicholson in the film Chinatown.
That very year, 1974, she shared the screen with Ellen Burstyn in the Martin Scorsese acclaimed dramatic comedy the movie Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. The performance earned Ladd her first Oscar nomination for best supporting actress.
Later Decades
