Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
