US entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series including Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Television Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe named "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
