Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Experiences

Olly is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.

My son advised me to select Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much success on the travel this term, and Brighton are always strong at home. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's home form, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
