Supporters Demand Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are demanding that a individual who leaped a fence and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared clip shows the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the actors walked down a promenade accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the event by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers indicated that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
History of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile features clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over Ariana's Safety
Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In footage circulating online, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
