Thrice-crowned MVP Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Triple NBA MVP Nikola Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" knee injury as the Denver Nuggets were defeated 147-123 against the Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury late in the first half in an accidental coming together with team-mate Spencer Jones.
The other player stepped on the foot of Jokic, and he instantly collapsed to the ground grabbing his knee.
The 30-year-old, who tops the league season in rebounds and assists, posted 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before suffering the injury.
He will undergo an scan on Tuesday to determine the extent of the problem.
"Instantly, Jokic knew there was a problem," said Nuggets head coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Anyone who gets hurt, that's gut-wrenching, particularly a player as talented as Jokic. More information will come on Tuesday."
"We'll move on together. Of course, right now, I'm focused just about him personally and the letdown of facing an event of that nature."
